Jobs of the month apartment October

Autumn has arrived and is already bringing us cool nights, although the maximum temperatures are still high. In October, let's get ready for winter by organizing the green corner of the house, with works that allow us to arrange our apartment plants in the best way. The most important works in October plan to bring the plants back home, remembering the needs of light and air of each individual plant; if we don't know them, it's time to inquire. For example, the species of ficus need a lot of light, but we must keep them away from windows and doors, which could cause very damaging air blows; potos and crotons, on the other hand, can also be in a slightly dark corner, together with dracenes. We ensure that each plant has the necessary space for a correct development, avoiding to get too close to the pots: the lack of light and air, caused by the scarce distances between the plants, is often the cause of leaf yellowing. Some houseplants do not fear the cold very much and wanting, especially in the southern regions, we can leave them on a porch or in sheltered areas of the garden or terrace, so that they can develop freely.

In general it is always good to avoid placing our plants near heat sources, such as radiators, stoves or fireplaces; It is also good to remember to avoid places of transit, in order to avoid accidental "collisions", which very often damage the leaves.

Watering

In bringing our plants back home we will also have to remember that their needs have changed; we increase the environmental humidity by often vaporizing the leaves, possibly with demineralized water, so as not to stain them with limestone, especially in the periods in which domestic heating is in operation. Let us also remember that plants, with decreasing temperatures and hours of insolation, tend to have a rest, or semi-restful, vegetative period, therefore they require less watering and less quantities of mineral salts, we can therefore suspend, or in any case thin out , fertilizer supplies.
