Tulips: Answer: tulips

Dear Mario,

We thank you for contacting us regarding the questions about the tulip, through the section of the Expert of Gardening.it.

Tulips are bulbous plants originating in Turkey that were already cultivated in the mid-16th century. They have oval bulbs, pointed at the top, the stems are erect and carry an inverted bell-shaped flower, variously colored, at the apex. The leaves are formed at the base of the stem and have an oval-lanceolate shape. Flowering occurs in the spring following transplantation. Tulips grow well in alkaline soils and answering your question it is good to water them two or three times a week keeping the soil moist without exceeding, so as not to create harmful rot to the bulb. Once the flowering is over, the flowers are removed, the leaves are dried and then the bulbs are removed from the ground, put in boxes where they remain until they are ready to be transplanted to give new flowers.

Yours sincerely.
