These are herbaceous plants that are highly branched. All the parts are covered with a thick and dense hair (which in recent years some breeders have tried to limit because some people find it annoying to the touch). The leaves run, alternating, along the entire stem. The flowers are funnel-shaped and are available in a very wide range of colors and in the simple or double form. They can also be veined, streaked, with a different and even wavy color margin.
It must be emphasized that it is a plant that has received a lot of attention from the breeders: we can therefore find it of all sizes, with large and sparse or small and numerous flowers, compact or hanging. You are really spoiled for choice.
The surfinie they are nothing more than a variety of petunias introduced on the market in the 1980s.
Created in Japan, they are a cross between small-flowered climbing species and traditional petunias.
We can say that what characterizes them is a particular vigor that leads them to grow much more: even up to 2 meters.
Furthermore, it seems that they bear the half shade better and therefore manage to bloom profusely even in the absence of conditions that are optimal for them. Their inflorescences resist even better to the rains. In general, however, their general characteristics are common to those of petunias.
